The Shishila Village is situated about 25kms to the north of Bangalore - Mangalore national highway and also about 50 to 55 kms from Dharmasthala. This village is situated in the midst of heavy forest. The main temple belongs to post Vijayanagar period. Subsequently, it has been extended on all directions/sides by providing stone pillars. Since the temple is situated in Western ghat section, keeping in view heavy rains in the locality, the entire original temple has been covered with stone slabs laid on stone rafters. Over that, modern laterite structure has been constructed, which has again covered with Mangalore tiled roof.
