| PART
A : Major Structural Repairs
1. Clearing of heavy vegetation
growth including big size plants which are deep
rooted inside the core of structure, carefully
taking all precautionary measures such as providing
props to over hanging members and throwing the
waste far away from the spot.
2. Scientific clearance of huge
heaps probably containing fallen members, without
damaging the other members & then shifting and
stocking them at a selected place for easy identification
during restoration process.
3. Numbering of temple members, both inside as
well as outside includes preparing of sketches
of each of the faces of both the cells in different
colours thus indicating courses, directions etc
in order to restore the entire structure in its
original style.
4. Clearing the earth, filling
of structures carefully and scientifically, in
order to expose the hidden Jagati faces and to
restore the original height of the temple. Also
collecting the members inside, if any for restoring
them in their proper place and throwing the cleared
stuff in the low area of the village.
5. Dismantling of old damaged
items to a weatherproof place carefully without
cracking roof slabs or causing damage to the other
structural parts.
6. Dismantling the disturbed
structural members along with core filling such
as parapet courses, ornamental courses, chejja
course etc. Shifting the member beyond the structure,
stocking them number wise on their respective
sides to avoid mixing up of the members and to
avoid confusion while restoring them back.
7. Excavation of hard soil below
the structure for strengthening the foundation
and dispatching of the excavated stuff in the
low area.
8. Laying of cement concrete
in the foundation & under pin them.
9. Construction of stone Masonry.
10. Reconstruction of the missing
and broken parts of the structure such as beams,
capital ornamental parapet courses, chejjas as
per the original position both in shape, size
& dressing.
11. Restoration of dismantled
structures in their proper places using pulley
without causing any other damage.
12. Removing the accumulated
soil in the chambers of roofs up to its slab level,
including the raking joints filling and laying
brick jelly concrete.
13. Laying fresh weatherproof
course over terrace after prefixing the joints
of roof slab.
14. Providing and fixing of fresh
door shutters in place of decayed ones.
15. Dismantling of the existing
sunken flooring slabs after numbering them and
relaying them in proper level and position on
a sand bed.
16. Raking the joints of the
structure carefully to the proper depth.
PART B :
Construction of Compound wall
Excavation of hard soil for providing foundation
to compound wall and dispatching of the excavated
stuff was the primary job in this category. Then
Construction of the exact size Masonry and Compound
wall with that stone Masonry were made. Along
with the compound wall a gate was constructed
on east side of the temple. Proper attachments
for fixing the grills and rods were constructed.
The grill was designed in such a way that the
complete view of the temple will be visible from
outside.
PART C :
Flag Stone Pavement Before renovation,
the top jagate around the temple was missing.
Since the level of the jagate was lower than the
road level, water was flowing towards the temple
which was getting absorbed into the foundation
and was one of the main reason for the collapse
of the structure. So, keeping all this in view
a plan was made to pave the top with slabs, without
causing any damage to the joints.
PART D :
Cleaning of Structures Interior
part of the temple is highly carved with various
types of ornamentation on the ceiling. The door
jambs of Sangameswara temple is elegantly decorated.
But unfortunately all the walls except the polished
pillars were applied with thick lime coating due
to which, the decorative articles were completely
covered. In addition to this a thick layer of
black soot was collected over it. Hence, provisions
were made to remove all these accretions so that
the original craftsmanship and heritage can be
enjoyed. PART E: Beautification of the temple
surrounding After the repairing of the total temple,
the environment was also given a proper matching
look by growing various traditional flower plants
of dwarf variety, which also serves for the daily
religious purpose. Before working out on this
plan, opinion of the horticulturist was taken
in to consideration.
PART F :
Human resources planning For
undertaking such a huge project a number of proper
equipments were needed. Further for effective
execution of the work, frequent site supervisions
were made in the estimated period of 15 months.
Photographic and video graphic documentation was
also prepared at different stages, for various
activities that took place in the temple in the
whole process. In addition to all these, provisions
were also made for providing medical facilities
to the workers in case of any accident while on
duty. Transportation facility was also provided
to the concerned officers.
