Repair Work of the Main Temple.

Retaining the deities in worship even during the renovation work is under progress: - At present, the temple worship is being performed regularly. According to information available, the temple authorities may not shift their deities from their position. Apart from this, the inner wall is not disturbed from the original position. For keeping them in safe condition it is proposed to provide sand bag and pole support upto ceiling level so that the worship can also be performed as usual without any disturbance of renovation work.

Numbering, designing and coloring of the members for Dismantling Process: - Provision is made for numbering; preparing rough sketches of temples etc. are covered in connection with dismantling

Clearing the Vegetation Growth: - The courtyard of the temple has been ploughed for agricultural purposes some time back. As such, the ground is not so leveled. Also raw vegetation is grown. In order to clear the vegetation and level the ground for storing dismantled members, lump sum provision is made.

Dismantling Parapet Wall & external Structures of the Main Temple: - These items provide for dismantling of parapet wall and dismantling of outer veneer slab from top to bottom along with care using the pulley etc., and to stack them in the sides in order.

Excavation Work: - Provision are in these items for attending Excavation work below the wall abound to a width 6'-6' by providing support to wall and lay fresh concrete below and over its construction size stone masonry in 1.6cm as there is no proper foundation previously.

Dismantling External Structures - At present it is observed that few members have been so damaged that they have to be replaced with the newer ones. Since it is possible to know how many members have to be replaced, only after dismantling exact portion, a lump sum provision is made. Restoration of Dismantled Members into their Original Positions: - Provision for restoration of dismantled members as per original manner. While doing so, it is proposed to fix M.S. dowels for each member, in concealed manner. The case will be filled with brick jelly concrete in steady mud filling. In between joints, very thin layer of cement mortar will be used as a binding material and after entire work is completed, the joints will be raked, sank painted with 1:3cm

Removing all Covered materials and Exposing the Shikara after Renovation: - The Shikara courses are applied with cement plaster from top to bottom. Now it is not possible to know how many courses are in the shikara. Then all the decorated features of stone shikara are to be exposed as per original condition. Here also some stones might have been damaged while plastering. After raking plaster, the joints will be grouted well and sunk pointed with cement mortar in 3 proportions mixed with W.P compound and toned to surface stone. Repair &

Replacement of all Doors, Fasteners and other accessories: - Condition of door shutters is not in good condition. Some part or planks are to be replaced keeping the safety of sculptures inside. Provisions are made for replacing wood and to completely change the fixture, which are very essential.

Construction & Painting of Parapet wall all-round the Terrace: - Construction of parapet as per original by using old bricks stacked. If the better quantity are not possible to cover the entire parapet, fresh bricks will be purchased and complete the parapet. After constructing the entire terrace, it will be plastered with fresh mortar.

Dismantling of Sunken Floors and leveling the same after repair: - Flooring inside temple is undertaken. It is proposed to lay the same at proper level, over sand cushion and point the joints. But dressing of slabs etc. are not proposed and laid as it is.

PART B-- WORKS PROPOSED IN HADINARU CHAVADI

Numbering, coloring and repair of all structural Members : - As stated in part A, the condition of hadinaru mukhada mantapa has to be attended here also. At present, sides are leaning heavily. The condition of cell where chief is supposed to sit and conduct Royal Durbar is in very damaging condition. Here the entire Mantapa has to be dismantled and foundation to be strengthened as done in the main temple and restore the dismantled members in its original style. The nature of walls is similar to the one carried to Main temple, will be followed here also.

The provision is made for laying fresh weatherproof course using brick and lime and the top to be plastered before laying the joints or once the ceiling will be grouted well. Provision has been made by us for the item to dismantle the flooring and relay over a sand bed [without dressing] and point the joints 1:3 cement mortars. It was observed while collecting data for preparing estimate; the storm water was entering into foundation and caused the damage to the structure apart from weak foundation. In order to keep the structure in sound condition after attending the restoration works, we have planned to lay flap stone pavement to a width of 5' for entire temple and Mantapa with fresh slabs, and joints are pointed with cement mortar. Further the court yard will be leveled in such a manner that the storm water will not come towards the structure and even the water coming from terrace will flow away immediately from the surrounding. No provision is made for dressing of slabs. They will be trimmed and laid in proper level.

PART C - CHEMICAL WORKS

The inner part of the temple such as doorjambs, ceiling, lathe turned pillars of the main temple, highly ornamented / decorated ceilings of Mantapa pillars are covered with either thick coat of lime wash or black salt or bats dropping etc. Now we can see only lime wash. It is proposed to remove them completely using chemicals. Lump sum provisions are made for the purchase of materials. The outer surface of temple and Mantapa are covered with mud and other factors. Provision has given to wash them completely with the detergent so that the temple will be free from the thick coat of material and original feature is clearly visible for public.

PART D: - MISCELLANEOUS EXPENSES

For executing the Excavation work, some scaffolding equipments like Manila Rope, buckets, etc., are being used. Provision is made to have photographic documentation and video shooting at the appropriate time for record purpose. Provision for fixing direction board, historical background, board is made. Provision is made for mending of tools during execution, keep a hired work site supervisor or store room for keeping the materials in safe condition and for transporting the materials from site to other place for attending repairs if needed. Provision for conveyance of visiting officers for inspecting work. Since the work is heavy and troublesome type, it is proposed to keep some medical facility at site. Provisions for the items, which are to be attended & do not find place in the estimate.
