of monuments by SDM Dharmothana Trust in association
with Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government
of Karnataka.
Dharmothana Trust in association with
Government of Karnataka has evolved a new and innovative
programme under Public-Private partnership to conserve
and protect the ancient monuments and Archaeological
sites.
A memorandum of understanding has been
signed with Sri Dharmasthala Dharmothana Trust for conservation
of living temples. A sum of Rs. One crore per annum
is earmarked for this purpose. The State Govt., would
contribute 40% of the above sum. Sri Dharmasthala Dharmothana
Trust would also bare a like sum and the remaining 20%
would be borne by the public (Devotees) etc., through
contributions. In this manner about 14-15 monuments
would be taken up for conservation every year.
Under the said programme 36 monuments
has been identified for restoration, with an estimated
cost of Rs. 335 Lakhs covering 14 Districts of Karnataka.
The Restoration Works of 13 monuments have been completed
and 6 are in progress. |
