The Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala,
Padmabhushana Dr. Veerendra Heggade is a visionary
who has successfully channeled the immense power of
Dharmasthala into activities for public good. Displaying
on outlook that is thoroughly modern, he retains a reverence
for our ancient culture and blends these into a unique
amalgam that produces amazing results.
As the Heggade of Dharmasthala, Dr.
Heggade’s responsibility centers around the maintenance
of Dharmasthals’s unique essence. He has, however,
also taken upon himself the task of creating a better
society through many Trusts and institutions that he
heads. Acting as the guiding sprit, Sri Heggade, despite
his multifarious responsibilities, manages to involve
himself deeply in every aspect of Dharmasthals’s
wide ranging activities.
Apart from performing the traditional Dana system
of the Kshetra, Dr. Heggade has opened many new venues
in philanthropic activities like moral upliftment of
the people, rural development, spreading mass education
among rural women, community development programmes,
self employment schemes, training the unemployed people
in different jobs, professions and thus preparing them
for gainful employment.
The revival of our ancient culture and the reclaiming
of our lost heritage is something that is close to the
heart of Rajarshi Veerendra Heggade. The Sri Dharmasthala
Manjunatheswara Dharmothana Trust is his brainchild
and he takes a keen personal interest in its activities.
He strongly believes that we must go back to our roots
to regain what we have lost by a blind acceptance of
everything modern. Through the activities of the Trust,
Dr. Heggade is attempting to give us a solid anchor
that can help withstand the buffeting our faiths received
in this modern Age.
