A Legacy of Dharma
Honoring the visionaries leading the mission of preserving heritage and uplifting Bharat.
Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade envisioned the preservation of ancient temples as a sacred duty. Together with Sri D. Surendra Kumar, the Trust continues this mission — restoring heritage, preserving traditions, and uplifting the spiritual and cultural legacy of Bharat.
Every stone carries a memory. Every restoration is an act of profound reverence — not just to the deity enshrined, but to the generations of artisans who shaped that stone with devotion.
Four Pillars of Preservation
Carefully reviving weathered sacred iconography using traditional methods and historically authentic materials.
Protecting architectural masterpieces by reversing structural decay and ensuring their long-term preservation.
Training future temple artisans in traditional craftsmanship to preserve sacred building knowledge for generations.
Revitalizing ancient places of worship to strengthen spiritual traditions and support local faith communities sustainably.
Sustaining Faith Through Architecture is the soul of Dharmothana's mission — where every stone speaks of devotion and every structure becomes a sacred offering. These temples are not lifeless monuments, but divine spaces where prayers have echoed for centuries and faith continues to breathe. Through careful and respectful restoration, Dharmothana revives not just walls and pillars, but the spiritual essence that dwells within them.
Many temples restored by the Trust were once abandoned, buried under soil, or used for non-religious purposes. The Trust's primary objective is to bring these structures back into the mainstream of daily life. For the Trust, architectural completion is followed by spiritual completion. Ceremonies like Kumbhabhisheka mark the transition of a restored ruin back into a living temple.
Since inception, the Trust has taken up 300 monuments and Jain mandirs, renovated to their old glory.
"We do not just rebuild walls; we restore the spiritual soul of a community. Every stone reset is a prayer answered for generations to come."
— Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Founder
A glimpse into painstaking work carried out across hundreds of sacred sites — watch each frame reveal its restoration.
Every restoration project undertaken by the SDMD Trust preserves ancient architecture while revitalizing the local community's sacred identity. By working closely with local people and employing traditional master craftsmen, we ensure that both structural integrity and spiritual legacy survive for centuries to come.
